How do teeth decay?

In science we have been learning about tooth decay.  
We carried out an experiment in science to show our our teeth are affected by acidic drinks...
We used egg shells to show what happens when teeth are in contact with too many acidic drinks.  The children soaked egg shells in milk, cola, cherryade, vinegar and water.  They then left them overnight.  The results showed that vinegar was the liquid that changed the texture of the egg shells the most, it had begun to break down the hard shell into a soft material which was beginning to disintegrate... The children really enjoyed it!
